Teresa Pereda

“That which interests me is the universal state of man.”
In her works Pereda aspires to reach the universal and the timeless.  A conceptual artist as well as a figurative painter, she is obsessed with the interior and exterior, of the known and the unknown.  Her objects are majestically situated- whether it’s a poncho, bowl or akucha, and is marked by the force of its own isolation.  They are, after all, silent works- muffled and dense with economic use of signs and spirit.  Hers is a world of transparencies and of the tactile.
Pereda has recently exhibited in London, Buenos Aires and Mexico City.  Her works are in the collections of the Museo de Arte Contemporano, Buenos Aires, Banco Paticios Foundation, Buenos Aires and the Collection of Latin American Art, Essex, England.
