| One of the younger artists at the show,
Cuizon delineates the personal struggle and alienation his generation feels living in a
post-colonial society. Infusing photos of
friends along with ancient mythology and pop icons, the works lend themselves to a highly
personal yet multi dimensional presentation. The
more one looks, the more one sees inside these powerful works. Cuizon
has won several prestigious awards at international shows, including the 26th
Festival de la Peinture in Cagnes-sur-mer, France. Most
recently he received a fellowship from the Asian Cultural Council to be artist in
residence at the Marin Headlands Center for the Arts. |
