Manrique's works are a study or contemplation of elements and objects often
taken for granted in everyday life. His canvases are densely layered and heavily worked,
but with a limited palette which invokes a sense of minimalism. These featured works are
diptychs, physically splitting the picture plane in two and creating an 'interior
solitude' to these single subject works. The artist's goals are to engage the viewer in a
dialog, producing a meditation on the inner core of life.
