In 1997 Amit May, in association with the Cambodian Artist Assistance Program, went to Cambodia to work with artists struggling to overcome tremendous hardships.  Cambodia is an extremely poor country, with harsh political oppression, and almost no resources for artists.  The works shown here are unique: they are among the first politically expressive works created by contemporary artists living in Cambodia.  The subject matter is somewhat severe and bleak, but it is important to get these messages out into the world.
