Earth bound sculptural works

"My work is often influenced by my Colombian heritage - the richness of Colombia's culture and stories ranging from folktales such as 'El Dorado' to the novels of Gabriel Garcia Marquez, whose stories are both surreal and humorous.  Other artists who combine fantasy and humor, such as Gaudi, Dali, Bruegel and Ernst have stimulated me towards making sculpture in this vein."

"I have had the chance to work closely in this country (USA) with contemporary artists such as Mary Beth Edelson, Tom Otterness and Robin Winters.  Edelson's philosophy especially motivated me to take a personal approach in sculpture; she encouraged me to accept the images that evolved in working with new materials and to see them as a vital part of my work."
